Updated Sick Policy

Please check with your child every morning before they come to school.  If they have symptoms (i.e. headache, nasal congestion (stuffy/runny nose), nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, fever (100.4F), muscle/body aches, fatigue, sore throat, etc), PLEASE keep them home and consider taking them for a medical evaluation.  The IDPH has identified the above as "low risk" symptoms, potentially being associated with COVID-19.

Temperature Checks: Parents will be notified of an elevated temperature (over 100 degrees) immediately.
Sacred Heart will follow the following quarantine rules released by CDC and Iowa Department of Public Health.

The CDC recommends a 10 day quarantine for individuals exposed to COVID.

The quarantine period may be shortened to as little as 7 days with a negative test under the following  conditions:
The negative test cannot be collected more than 2 days prior to the quarantine end date. ▪ Example – if the quarantine end date is 7 days, the test must be collected at least 5 days after the exposure.
No symptoms of COVID have been observed at any point during the quarantine period.
Monitoring for symptoms need to continue through Day 14 and the person should isolate immediately if  symptoms develop.
No quarantine period can be less than 7 days.

DHS has a procedure in place if a staff member, child, or parent is exposed to or tests positive for COVID 19.  The center may be asked to close for a period of time depending on the situation.

A closure may be possible at any time depending on state requirements or an outbreak in the area or the state.
